I'm Astrea, and I'm delighted to share my passion for education, writing, and the joy of reading with you. I hope to be a source of inspiration for both parents and teachers alike. 

Education:

My journey into the world of education began at Southwestern University, where I majored in education. My love for teaching blossomed during my undergraduate years, where I had the incredible opportunity to experience a wide range of classrooms, from kindergarten to 7th grade in both general and special education environments.  My quest for knowledge later led me to the University of Maine School of Law, where I received my J.D. and broadened my knowledge and skills even further. 

Experience:

I've had the privilege of teaching in bilingual classrooms for close to a decade, spanning grades 1st through 3rd. These experiences have given me a unique insight into the world of childhood education and have fueled my desire to make a positive impact through storytelling.

The Why:

I was born in Mexico, where my roots are deeply intertwined with a rich literary tradition. My great-grandfather, a talented writer, once penned speeches for the president and published a book, inspiring me to continue his legacy. My fascination with writing began early in life, as I cherished and wrote about my days in my first Ariel Disney princess journal.

My journey to becoming a children's book author and advocate for education is deeply rooted in my childhood dreams. Since kindergarten, I aspired to be a teacher, a dream that stayed with me throughout my academic journey. While the idea of becoming a lawyer also intrigued me, I knew that my passion for teaching could not be extinguished. Today, I see the profound challenges facing education, from national staffing shortages to evolving classroom dynamics. It's this awareness and the belief in the transformative power of literature that inspire me to embark on my third career—becoming a writer.

In a world where the role of educators is changing rapidly, I'm excited to take on the challenge of crafting meaningful, educational, and entertaining children's books and teaching materials. Join me on this enchanting journey where words come to life, and together, we can ignite the love of reading and learning in young hearts.
